v. 4 No longer will they call you Deserted,
or name your land Desolate.
But you will be called Hephzibah ("My delight is in her"),
and your land Beulah ("Married");
for the LORD will take delight in you,
and your land will be married.
So I stumbled upon this verse during a really rough week on an extraordinarily rough day. God reached inside my chest and grabbed my heart when I read this verse. HE, the God of the Universe whom created every living creature and sacrificed His own Son for me, HE finds his delight in... ME!? The first thing that comes to my mind is "Why?" and the second is "Praise God!!" The answer to the first thought is, "Because He's God and I'm his daughter, whom He loves even though He doesn't have to." That's so so hard to believe sometimes... a lot of times. Why would anyone, especially the one and only perfect all-knowing God whom I find MY delight in, find his or her delight in me? But He does. I am the apple of His eye and His princess. A princess does nothing to earn her title. She is simply born into the great inheritance of her father, just as I was reborn into the greatest inheritance of my Father! Praise God!
v.5- As a young man marries a maiden,
so will your sons marry you;
as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.
Again with "the Lord delights in me" theme!! This truth just pushes me that much more to find my delight ONLY in my God! I am His bride adorned in pure white cloth simply to glorify Him! It is so hard for me to imagine that God finds the same delight in me as a groom finds in his first love; his precious jewel. I am not worthy of this honor. Period. I have nothing else to say.
This post made me think of a little back-and-forth saying that I do with Hope:
ReplyDeleteme: Hope, why do I love you?
Hope: Because I'm your daughter and God gave me to you!
How much more special and sweet to ask this of THE Father, and hear HIS reply!
me: God, why do You love me?
God: Because you're my daughter and I made you! ;-)
Keep writing and keep snapping, Julia - I love your photos...
